Zero liquid discharge (ZLD) is an engineering approach to wastewater treatment where all treated clean water is made available for reuse in ongoing industrial operations by remov-ing the impurities & amp; dissolved solids while the contam-inants therein are reduced to solid waste. In the case where RO membrane filtration is to be applied, a smaller volume (the reject) will require evaporation i.e. steam evaporator in general and Multieffect evaporator (MEE) in particular is one of main partner and popular method in completing the loop of wastewater treatment to achieve the ZLD.
